Bloomberg reports that inflation is bad enough to impact the cost of synthetic fertilizers so much so that demand for animal manure is red hot.
There are also alternative uses for manure. Some farms use manure for energy and the increasing demand for manure means pressure on energy as well as food costs. Worried about inflation? You should be!
Of course, there is a chain reaction to all of this….high cost of basic components such as fertilizer get fed into the production of crops which in turn get fed into transport costs then distribution costs and finally retail costs.
