The BLS released State Employment and Unemployment and reported the following:
Unemployment rates were lower in January in 19 states, higher in 2 states and the District of Columbia, and stable in 29 states, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Forty-nine states and the District had jobless rate decreases from a year earlier and one state was little changed. The national unemployment rate, 4.0 percent, was little changed over the month, but was 2.4 percentage points lower than in January 2021.
Overall the employment situation in the United States seems relatively good considering supply chain issues, labor shortages and other geo-political challenges around the world.
This week the Fed will have it’s FOMC meeting so we’ll standby and see what the decisions will be and how the market will react. Right now, we’re in standby mode.
Stay tuned and stay solvent…
