The Social Security Administration publishes a monthly snapshot of social security recipients which you can find the October report here. According to the over 65 enrollment numbers, there was an increase of 119,000 new social security recipients in October which was lower than the 142,000 in September.
Keep in mind that social security enrolls don’t count all retired people because many people retire but wait to take social security. So far in 2023, there are 1,093,000 new social security recipients.
According to a report from US News, here are the most popular ages people take social security.
About half of the people start taking social security at either 62 or 66 with the rest spread across different ages. The oldest boomers are now 79 and the youngest are now 59 and all will be over the age of 65 by 2030. We can infer that there will be an explosion of social security enrollments starting next year and continuing through 2030 but we’ll see what the data shows.
We continue to research ways to profit from the coming conundrum so stay tuned, stay profitable and stay solvent….
